Superdelegates help Clinton expand her lead despite N.H. loss

“We’re not gonna let the politburo decide this one”, Grayson told Buzzfeed, adding that perhaps his endorsement, as well as his superdelegate vote, is up for grabs.

Sanders, I-Vt., recently won the New Hampshire primary against Hillary Clinton.

The last two Fox News polls show Clinton’s drop-off has been most striking among women (she has gone from 28 points ahead of Sanders to just 3 points up, for a shift of minus 25 points), whites (-13 points), and regular Democrats (-14 points). But when superdelegates are included, Clinton leads 481-55, according to a new Associated Press survey.

A month ago, Clinton, 68, had support of 49 per cent of the Democratic primary voters.

Clinton’s supporters are more committed: 82 percent of her backers are “certain” to vote for her compared to 69 percent of Sanders’.

Bernie Sanders on Thursday suggested Hillary Clinton has been cozying up to President Obama on the campaign trail in an effort to win over black voters.

Some are contacting superdelegates who have publicly endorsed Clinton, and their message isn’t subtle, or always welcome. “The whole system causes me concern, the idea that if all the super delegates line up behind one candidate, the other has to win by, 59 to 41 in order to have a shot at the nomination, their candidate has to win by 18 points”, Grayson said.

Sanders, 74, now has support of 47 per cent of Democratic primary voters as against 44 per cent people who back Clinton. “I’ve been in the trenches since I was 20”. “I didn’t go around attacking Bill Clinton”.

“I think Hillary has demonstrated that she does have progressive values”, he said, downplaying criticism from some on the left. “I have experienced the struggles”. Isabel Framer, who’s on the Democratic National Committee, is doubtful about Sanders’ chances of carrying the swing state and winning a general election.

Sanders is the longest-serving Independent lawmaker in Congress. While he’s caucused with the Democrats, he never identified as a member of the party until his presidential bid.

The Republicans also have some automatic delegates but not almost as many.

The 26-year-old sat in a circle with Clinton on Sunday here at her east Las Vegas campaign office. But he made no apologies for urging labor’s troops to come out and caucus on Saturday for the former Secretary of State, and not Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

Sanders campaign adviser Tad Devine said he doesn’t consider an early superdelegate count to be very meaningful because they are free to change their minds right up until the convention.
