Supergirl Recap 10/26/15: Season 1 Episode 1 Premiere “Pilot”
Melissa Benoist talked about her feminist show “Supergirl” last night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”. Kara was sent to Earth to protect her cousin but her pod was caught in the infamous Phantom Zone. But once they discover Lumberjack’s weakness – the extreme temperate of his ax – Kara figures out that she can just heat it up with her eyes and make it explode. “I wish there were more of a pattern and more of a consistency to there being really strong female-driven stories”, the actress said, according to Vanity Fair. The biggest surprise was seeing Calista Flockhart back on television and playing…well, a b****. Her secrecy changes when Kara’s sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh) is about to die in a awful plane crash. In the same interview with CBS This Morning, Benoist detailed the hopes she has for Supergirl and the audience it reaches.

Soon enough, Kara gets enlisted by the head of a secret agency that would like her assistance in saving the world. A female superhero! Shouldn’t she be called Superwoman?

But Supergirl would like a seat at the superhero table on the small screen. It is also nice to see a hero that girls will be able to relate to and look up to.
Zor-El is also known as the biological cousin of Superman. Essentially, Supergirl had a tremendous premiere, and a lot of people in the demographic that networks are particularly interested in reaching were watching.
Benoist recently hung out with a few cute mini-Supergirls and documented it on her Instagram.
The tone: Light, fun, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Supergirl, the Berlanti-helmed CBS television adaptation of DC Comics’ Girl of Steel, played by Melissa Benoist, is officially the most-watched premiere of the 2015 fall season. In that scenario, a more appropriate response would have been: “You look awesome”. He told Entertainment Weekly, “Her name is Astra”.
Superheroes are becoming as populous on TV as they are in movie theaters, probably even more so.

The love triangle: It’s clear the show is setting one up for Kara, Winn, and James. “We try and do stuff like that”. After all, they haven’t mentioned the existence of Superman on “Arrow” or “The Flash”, and that is something they’d have to overcome. “We are going to be meeting a few of those alien villains”. But beyond that, she’s her mother’s twin sister. Why hasn’t she tried to bring down her nephew, Superman?
