Supermodel’s JFK flight grounded after wing clips fence

A Virgin Atlantic plane has been grounded at New York’s John F Kennedy airport after its wing struck a fence before take-off.

Authorities said the incident happened at 8:30 a.m.as Virgin Atlantic Flight 26 was being pushed back from the gate by a tug.

A passenger on the plane tweeted a picture of the incident, writing: “Noooooo!!”

The plane hit a blast fence when pushing back from the gate.

The aircraft’s 276 passengers were forced to disembark and wait for another flight.

There were no reported injuries, and the passengers are being rebooked by the airline, he said. “I just want to go home!!” the user wrote.

A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said the crash was a cause of “a miscalculation by the tug”.

The plane was scheduled to depart at 8:15 a.m. “Safety is our number one priority and we would like to apologize for the delay and any inconvenience caused”, the statement said.
