The question which is bothering people is whether or not to wait for the next gen Surface Pro. While the team had been looking into the battery draining phenomenon since early July 2016, an end date to users suffering had not been discussed let alone a solution that could potentially address the matter. However, Microsoft denied these claims by saying that the issues with battery in Surface Pro 3 can be solved with a software fix.

Microsoft posted a message on the Community forums where it confirmed that the battery issue in certain Surface Pro 3 devices is indeed caused by a software problem, and that the fixing update is now being tested internally.
