Surface Pro 5 will arrive in 2017 with Intel’s next-gen chips

If indeed Microsoft is gearing up for the arrival of the Kaby Lake processor, then the release date may happen in the third quarter of this year – earlier than what Kuo predicts for the MacBook Pro 2016.

Microsoft rumors and the Surface Pro 5? Microsoft has not kept to a strict launch schedule for the Surface Pro, which makes a September launch possible. With Surface Pro 5 expected to be a premium tablet, though, Microsoft will want them to run on the latest processor available in the market. The USB-C interface will charge the tablet and be able to transfer data between devices, serving dual purposes as a result.

Before anything, it’s worth having in mind that we’re still many months away from the public launch of these new Microsoft products, so while these rumors might be true, Redmond could change anything overnight should it want to. The problem will arise when Microsoft sets to a retail price. Apple quickly released a competitor but lost in front of the Surface Pro 4. However, you will have to purchase additional accessories, which will easily bring your grand total to over $1,000.

Microsoft launched the fourth-generation Surface Pro tablet in October past year, which makes the release of the Surface Pro 5 during the last quarter of 2016 a possibility, preferably in October again. Instead, the device will now be launched next year, probably in the spring of 2017.

According to a Digital Trends report, Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Processor is capable of a GPU performance of 37.41MP per second, a DDR4 latency of 23.2 nanoseconds, 5.59GB per sec cryptographic processing, 313.84MP per sec multimedia processing and 118.71 giga-operations per sec across eight threads.

According to several reports, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will pack a new Surface Pen that comes with a rechargeable battery.

Intel is most likely the supplier of the chips that will power the Surface Pro 5 tablets and while Microsoft hasn’t confirmed anything itself, the industry, on a whole, has an idea what to expect. It is also nearly certain that the Surface Pro 5 will have the latest version of the Windows 10 OS. As of this writing, we don’t have correct information about the availability and price of Surface Pro 5. A recent rumor suggests that the device’s pricing will start at $899 which is not bad at all. Microsoft hasn’t officially announced a launch date so keep your fingers crossed.
