Surprise visit may help rivals ease tensions
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unexpected visit to Pakistan has “greatly hurt the sentiments of the nation”, says Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed in a video message posted on social network.

Taking to Twitter, Swamy wrote, ” Namo be given a free hand on Pakistan since he is working to a strategy. “Steady engagement is the best way to determine every outstanding issue”.
During his two-day visit to Russia, Modi held talks with President Vladimir Putin, covering a wide range of sectors which included defence and nuclear cooperation.
He said as the dialogue proceeds, all issues would be discussed.
Responding to a question, Khursheed Kasuri said the Indian Prime Minister was under global pressure to start the dialogue process with Pakistan. “So, you have finally come”, Sharif told Modi, according to a Pakistani foreign ministry official who was at the meeting.
Regardless of broad welcome, there were disengaged voices restricting Mr. Modi’s trek. Pakistan scrapped formal talks with India in August, saying its neighbour’s conditions that keep Kashmir off the agenda are a hurdle.
He stated the development in relations between the 2 nations was vital to regional peace, stability and improvement.
On Friday, Modi and Sharif agreed that their foreign secretaries would meet in mid-January to restart talks. He stopped off in the Afghan capital Kabul earlier on Friday, where he inaugurated a new parliament complex built with Indian help. “And the PM said to him, ‘Please come, you are our guest, please come and have tea with me, ‘” Chaudhry said.
The quiet involvement of Pakistan’s powerful military in its foreign policy this year paved the way for reviving a stalled dialogue with India, officials said, a thaw leading to the first visit to Pakistan by an Indian premier in nearly 12 years.
After spending one-and-a-half hour in Jati Umrah, Prime Minister Modi left for the airport.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a bold and powerful minister he doesn’t need anyone’s advice or permission to visit any country, including Pakistan”, he said. India also announced it would supply three Russian-made helicopters to Afghanistan’s tiny air force.
The sudden warming of relations between India and Pakistan seems to have taken many by surprise.

“Search of peace does not meant that we have already found it. But the process particularly in a region with as many complex problems as ours, history as ours; the pursuit of peace, always a fragile commodity, requires kind of courage shown in Lahore”, Akbar said and also admired Sharif for his leadership.
