It has been announced that St. Louis County will stay in a state of emergency for at least another night, giving the county police authority to continue to surveil the area.
Late Tuesday night, about 100 protesters gathered along West Florissant Avenue in a demonstration that was smaller and calmer than others on recent nights.
Some on the streets in Ferguson for another night of protests expected and accepted some violence, including Tiffany Shawn.
Attendees mostly mingled quietly along the side of the road.
The protesters chanted, beat drums and carried signs.
The Oathkeepers were also present to protect buildings from arson during the November 2014 riots following the non-indictment of former police officer Darren Wilson.
Mr Belmar said the suspect who fired on officers used a stolen semi-automatic 9mm gun.
A state of emergency was declared on Monday as protests continued to mark the anniversary of the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown by a white police officer. Brown was fatally shot August. 9, 2014.
St. Louis County Police via Yout This video allegedly shows 18-year-old Tyrone Harris drawing a handgun after hearing shots fired during protests in Ferguson, Mo. on Sunday.
Harris is in critical condition. He is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
Thousands descended upon the city to show their respect to Brown and his family, participating in peaceful demonstrations meant to change a system that too often ends with the death of young Black men, women, and children.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit civil rights organization, has described the “Oath Keepers” as a “fiercely anti-government, militaristic group.”The St Louis County police chief condemned their appearance in Ferguson“. Karriman said the group stepped in only after Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declined to summon the National Guard in the aftermath of the grand-jury decision.
Belmar plans to ask county prosecutor Bob McCulloch about the legality of the group’s armed patrols.

Police said Tyrone Harris, 18, unleashed a “remarkable amount of gunfire,”shooting an unmarked police vehicle while officers sat at inside”. Mary Chandler has seen this type of back-and-forth between police and protesters so many times. They took no action, and the rock-throwing stopped. He says no one was injured.
As another protest in the beleaguered town of Ferguson began to turn rowdy, Jon Belmar was among the first to confront protesters. Nearly 60 people were arrested around midday for blocking the entrance to the federal courthouse in downtown St. Louis.
