The state AG confirmed on Tuesday that Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, one of the Sinaloa cartel leader’s sons, was abducted along with five other people from the La Leche restaurant.

The gunmen left the women alone and simply took the men.

Jalisco Attorney General Eduardo Almaguer told Mexican radio that “it is presumed” that another son of El Chapo’s, Ivan Archivaldo, is among those kidnapped, The Telegraph reported.

Mexico’s national attorney general’s office announced on Tuesday evening that a group of agents from the office that specialize in organized crime will join the investigation now being carried out by the state government.

They had earlier said that one of them may have been another of Guzman’s sons, Ivan “El Chapito” (Little Chapo) Guzman.

The cartel leader is awaiting extradition to the USA and his lawyers complained that the new location made it hard for them to remain in contact with their client.

This is not the first time that the drug lord’s sons were attacked.

Images published by El Blog del Narco show gunmen, believed to be from the rival CJNG storming in as the younger Guzman sits at a table. “This is an important development because it affects the power structure of the Sinaloa cartel”.

Investigators believe the druglord’s son was taken by a rival drug gang called the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

A possible escalation in violence has also been predicted by authorities in Jalisco and neighboring states, who said they are coordinating with the federal forces in order to reinforce surveillance measures both in the seaside resort and other parts of the region. Mexican authorities searched for El Chapo for months before finally capturing him in January and sending him back to Altiplano.
