“Bill was prepared to join the board after several years of courtship” just before Goldberg died, Lurie said.

On Tuesday, Veghte was appointed as the company’s next CEO, which will take effect on August 3.

Sandberg had previously worked with Ebersman in Facebook where the latter used to serve as Chief Financial Officer before becoming a co-founder and CEO of Lyra Health as reported by New York Times.

The new appointments were reflected in an update to the website of the California-based company on Monday. With their strategic input, SurveyMonkey will be even better-positioned to scale our profitable business. Goldberg, who had led the company since 2009, expanded it into efforts like gauging employee morale and analyzing the success of consumer products. Veghte is not only a proven tech executive, but he shares many of Goldberg’s values, knows what Goldberg wanted to accomplish at SurveyMonkey and has the chops to get it done.

“SurveyMonkey is a special company with a wonderful opportunity in front of it”, Veghte said.

Goldberg had a long and varied career, which started with companies like Capitol Records and Yahoo! before he eventually became the SurveyMonkey chief. “Goldberg’s] vision of building a lasting company that will impact the way we all do business for years to come”. She declined a request for a separate interview, though she has published on Facebook a widely read post on grief and her life after Goldberg’s death. Lurie, an executive at GoPro Inc., had served as SurveyMonkey’s temporary executive chairman and was named permanent chairman on Monday.

Mr Ebersman shepherded Facebook through its 2012 initial public offering. “Dave was an awesome person and the reality is I’m not Dave and I can’t be Dave to them, but what I can be is a supporter of each and everyone at SurveyMonkey in supporting and enabling them in what they are already doing”, he said. “There’s a lot of hard work” before that is possible. “The common thread in Bill’s work is his skill in working with teams to increase the global reach of great businesses”, Sandberg said of Veghte’s appointment.
