Sushma rejects Sharif’s peace proposal

Sharif proposed the four-point initiative which includes formalization of border ceasefire and demilitarization of Kashmir and Siachen.

“There is abundant evidence one after another that it is Pakistan which is supporting, sponsoring and even exporting terrorism to India”, Singh said in the wake of a recent speech delivered by Sharif at the UN General Assembly. “That is the case with Pakistan”, the official said, remarking sarcastically: “We agree that terrorism has underlying causes – in this case, poverty of wisdom and ignorance of consequences”. Blaming neighbours is not a solution…Pakistan is not primary victim of terrorism but of its own policies.

The dossier a set of three documents titled – India’s interference and support to terrorism in Balochistan, FATA through the Taliban and in Karachi – were handed over to Chief of Staff Susana Malcorra by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi. It said it was India that extended the hand of friendship.

Secondly, he proposed that Pakistan and India reaffirm that they will not resort to the use or the threat of use of force under any circumstances.

Referring to Nawaz’s address, he also said, “Pak PM gets foreign occupation right, occupier wrong”. Earlier, speaking at a dinner hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner Syed Ibne Abbas on Wednesday, he said Pakistan wanted good neighbourly relations with India “but with dignity and honour”.

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj gave a stinging reply in her address to the General Assembly.

He further said that Pakistan has always wanted to resolve all issued related to India through peace talks, while India is emphasizing merely on terrorism.

When asked about his initiative about forging better ties with India, Sharif said that Pakistan has put forward concrete proposals for improving ties with India with the hope that it would elicit a positive response.

“It needs no imagination to figure out which side initiates this exchange” he said.

Ali Shah Geelani, who heads another faction of the Hurriyat, praised Mr. Sharif for “demanding complete demilitarisation of Jammu & Kashmir“.

On Monday, Afghanistan CEO Abdullah Abdullah, however, accused Pakistan on being a sanctuary for terrorists and of going back on its word to stop terrorism against his country.
