A man wanted for the shooting death of a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office sergeant has been arrested in Alabama, Sheriff Newell Normand said at a Wednesday afternoon news conference. A search warrant was obtained in Tuscaloosa with regards to the murder and Tuscaloosa Police said they found probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Darby for Marshall’s killing. A neighbor discovered Marshall’s body after noticing a shattered window on the truck.
Investigators believe Marshall was shot and killed around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 while she was sitting in her personal vehicle at her apartment complex in Gretna, LA, according to Hood.
Darby was arrested on Tuesday.
Marshall and Darby had a “very tumultuous relationship”, Normand said, adding that Marshall was “very well liked” and “will be significantly missed”.

He will be held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond set until he is extradited to Louisiana, Hood said. She was promoted to sergeant of the night watch at the correctional center in 2010. Earlier this year, Sheriff’s Office officials tapped Marshall to move over into the Jefferson Parish courthouse where she supervised the deputies serving as bailiffs.
