The victim, who was 22 years old, was found with multiple stab wounds to her torso in the Bronx area of NY City. Police believe her baby was cut from her womb by 22-year-old Ashleigh Wade, a childhood friend.

The handcuffed woman, who is 22 as well, was in custody of the police as the main suspect in the apparent death of her rival, said police.

Both mother and child were rushed to Montefiore Hospital, where Angelikque was pronounced dead. “I’ve been with her for eight years”, he told The News. “And then afterwards they put her in an ambulance and they went off”.

“She tried to sell the idea that the baby was hers and she had just given birth right there”, a high-ranking police source said. Charges against her were pending and it was not immediately clear whether the victim and suspect knew one another.

After being arrested, Wade told authorities that Sutton lunged at her with a knife, “but she wrestled it away and jammed it into the pregnant woman’s neck”.

“It appears that the fetus of this woman was removed… surgically removed by the perpetrator”, Councilman Andy King (D-Bronx) told the NY Daily News. ‘She said she was due next Monday.

Investigators were questioning the victim’s boyfriend and taking blood samples to determine who exactly had given birth. Jelani Magloire, 24, said she had never seen something so horrific.

“I’m the infant’s father. I thought I was going to be a grandfather”. Wade has been taken to a hospital for observation and is yet to be charged.
