Deviere Ernel Ransom, 24, of Detroit is reported by the Oakland County Sheriffs Office to be the man who led several officers on a chase through several jurisdictions starting in Warren.
Troy police attempted to stop the suspect at I-75 but he shot at the officers, striking the cruiser at least once, according to police.
Bloomfield Hills police joined the chase about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday after the man crashed into an occupied vehicle – the motorist suffered minor injuries – near Woodward and Square Lake in Bloomfield Hills.
Officers chased the suspect on foot, but at one point he pointed a gun at police who shot and killed him. No officers were injured during the incident.
A representative from the Bloomfield Hills Police Department said there would be no further comment until the investigation is concluded. His name has not yet been released.
