Oakland police say the man likely fatally shot himself early Friday.

Brown is considered armed and unsafe.

Around 5:50 p.m., Oakland police were called to the motel on the 8400 block of Edes Avenue to handle a “barricaded suspect wanted for homicide in another city”, officials said.

As the tactical team was preparing to contact the suspect, officers heard multiple gunshots from inside the motel room. Livermore police identified the victim who was killed in that murder as 32-year-old Jose A. Mendoza and the second victim injured in the shooting is 22-year-old Ulizes Benitez – both from Turlock.

Following the incident, the police have cordoned off Hegenberger road near northbound I-880 causing a huge spike in traffic jam. Following a tip off, the police came in and surrounded Motel 6 in the late afternoon. Brown is also suspected of killing a 27-year-old man inside a Fresno Thai restaurant on September 12, Fresno police Lt. Burke Farrah said today.
