‘I’ve been abducted. Please hurry, ‘ she said.
The woman as she was lying next to a grate. He was a squatter, authorities said. A third body was found at a burned-out Richland County house. The kidnapping charge alleges that Grate held another female victim against her will for the objective of engaging in sexual activity with her between the dates of September Il and 13, 2016.
Grate remains jailed on an abduction charge.
The woman said in the 911 call she had been tied up but partly freed herself in a bedroom to make the call while her captor was asleep in the room.
Family members say Stacy Stanley was one of the victims.
Records show an OH man arrested after the report of an abduction led to the discovery of three bodies has a long criminal record and served prison time for burglary.
Police arrived, rescued the woman and arrested 40-year-old Shawn Grate. Other charges on his record include aggravated menacing, theft, domestic violence, violation of a protection order and abduction.
The house (pictured, left) in Ashland, Ohio, was supposed to be uninhabited at the time but Grate, who was homeless, is believed to have been squatting there. It was not immediately clear if he has an lawyer.
Ashland County Prosecutor Christopher R. Tunnell said the investigation is still in the early stages and more charges could be filed. That’s several blocks from where she was found, at a rundown home that faces a coin-operated laundromat.
Fire marshal spokeswoman Lindsey Burnworth says investigators were checking the property near Mansfield on Wednesday after decomposed remains were found behind it Tuesday.
Investigators discovered two bodies in the abandoned home. She said he was holed up a vacant house and had a Taser. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
Authorities also found a third body in Richland County after Grate informed them of the location.
One of the bodies was that of 43-year-old Stacey Stanley, who had been reported missing from Huron County. Some details, including her age and address, were redacted from the 911 recording and police haven’t commented on her condition. Supporting this claim, as the Daily Mail points out, is the fact that Stanely was last seen at a gas station with a flat tire, only a few blocks from where she would eventually be found dead.
