Suspect in Chelsea Bombing Captured in Linden, Cop Shot

The arrest came just hours after police issued a bulletin and photo of Rahami, a naturalized USA citizen from Afghanistan who lived with family in an apartment in Elizabeth, New Jersey, over a fried-chicken restaurant owned by his father. Two police officers were also wounded.

NBC New York said the unnamed officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Rahami, 28, is a USA citizen whose family opened First American Fried Chicken in 2002 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The NYPD tweeted Monday morning that authorities were seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami.

The series of attacks come as NY hosts world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly this week.

Rahami lived with his family on a busy street a few miles from the Newark airport.

“He’s a very friendly guy, that’s what’s so scary”, said Ryan McCann of Elizabeth.

Late Sunday, suspicious devices that turned out to be bombs were found near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

They accused the city of targeting them because they were Muslim, according to the the civil rights complaint.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, the FBI and NY police stopped a vehicle of interest in the investigation, according to a statement from FBI. “One police officer in the city of Linden was shot in the chest and one was shot in the hand”. He said his dispute with the Rahamis was over the restaurant’s hours and not their religion.

Two officers were hit in the shootout with Ahmad Khan Rahami in Linden, New Jersey, the mayor of the nearby city of Elizabeth said. The school said there was nothing concerning in his file.

Sunday morning: All 29 of the people who were injured in Saturday’s blast had left hospitals.

A series of attacks shook United States on Saturday and the police are investigating whether there is an association between the NY blast and a pipe bomb blast in New Jersey.
