Police say a suspicious device that was found outside a suburban Nashville nursing home was an improvise explosive device. Officers found what appears to be a bomb inside of an employee’s vehicle.
Police in Tennessee were searching for a person of interest today after a bomb was found in an employee’s vehicle outside a senior care facility. When officers arrived, they identified the device as a possible bomb and immediately began relocating approximately 60 patients of the care facility to other parts of the building, Franklin police said.
Bomb specialists from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation worked to safeguard the device.
It was ultimately detonated in a controlled environment outside of the facility, rendering the situation safe and eliminating all risk. He has a criminal record and is considered extremely unsafe.
Police said Oakes has ties in Crossville, Pikeville and Cookeville.
He is now wanted on a felony out of Virginia.
Police said it was skillfully built and created to do massive damage to the woman and facility.
The TBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to Oakes arrest.
“When you’ve heard that there was a disgruntled employee, you don’t really know what to expect”, Hardcastle told News 2.

“Hopefully the police can get this package and get it resolved or dissolved or whatever so that everybody can get back to normal”, he said.
