Lane appeared earlier than Boulder County District Court Judge Judge Maria E. Berkenkotter. Police say Wilkins saw an ad on Craigslist for baby clothes, and agreed to meet the seller.

Lane said she was willing to waive her right to a speedy trial because of a scheduling conflict and a trial date of February 16 was set.

Prosecutors have stated that Lane lured the 26-year-old Wilkins to her residence beneath the pretext of promoting maternity and child clothes by way of a posting on Craigslist.

The woman accused of cutting out an expecting mother’s unborn child in a Longmont attack earlier this year pleaded not guilty Thursday in Boulder County court.

The brief alleges Lane stabbed Wilkins in the neck with the broken lamp, then choked and tried smothering Wilkins with a pillow.

Perini said Michelle Wilkins is in Colorado this week visiting friends and the people who helped save her life.

Lane was arrested after arriving at the same hospital the victim was rushed to, allegedly carrying a deceased infant and claiming she had a miscarriage. They then went with the fetus to the hospital, police said. The baby did not survive.

Lane reportedly told investigating officers that Wilkins had attacked her, and that she cut the baby out of Wilkins in order to save it, fearing that she had killed Wilkins in self-defense. She had surgery at Longmont United and spent a week there before she was released March 25. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office later determined the baby died from “fetal demise.” There was also no evidence of trauma or injuries.
