Suspect in Mississippi killings left apology

Gautier Police said they still have not determined what led Lamb, 45, to kill Prentiss, 41. There police say they found the 39-year-old history professor shot three times from a.380-caliber handgun.

Students said they looked forward to his class. Police in Gautier, where Prentiss died, said he had no history of violence or criminal record.

“We have nothing to support that”.

The Delta State Twitter account recently updated that classes would be cancelled on Tuesday, following the aftermath of the shootings, and that counselors would be on staff to help affected students.

O’Steen said his daughter writes and sings her own music. “There’s obviously something there that brought this about”, Bingham said.

The school was locked down throughout the day, its buildings cleared.

While on the run on Monday, Lamb made statements to family members, which were relayed to police, that he would not turn himself in, Hoggatt said. According to one social media account, Prentiss managed her daughter’s singing career.

“You’ll find all of her family’s phone numbers and things in her phone”. A love triangle is believed to be what pushed Lamb to instigate the shooting.

A book published by Schmidt says in the acknowledgements that Schmidt considered himself “so lucky to have such wonderful people to share my academic life with”, including Lamb. “Don’t do anything to yourself or anyone else…”

Lamb was teaching two online courses this semester, University President William LaForge said.

Lamb, he said, was a talented musician who played guitar and harmonica. LaForge said he did not know Lamb personally. Lamb met Prentiss when he and Abigail both performed at a summer fair three years ago.

Sullivan said Delta State did a good job of responding to the situation. “I thought the world of him”.

Schmidt and Lamb taught together at Delta State.

Police began to follow Lamb but did not attempt to apprehend him as he drove. And the school had planned to celebrate its 90th anniversary Tuesday – some of the festivities were even supposed to be in Jobe Hall where the shooting happened – but LaForge said that event will be rescheduled.

Karen Manners Smith, a history professor at Emporia State University in Kansas, where Schmidt studied, called him “a super competent human being”. Most recently, according to his profile, he was working on two projects involving the Native American experience.

“We had citizens that were bringing water, drinks, food, and it was incredible how the community responded in a positive aspect in support of the law enforcement officers that were here”, he said.
