Suspect in ‘police’ gear sought in Texas church murder

Fitness instructor Terri Bevers, 45, was found unresponsive by her students in the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, 20 miles southwest of Dallas, on Monday morning. Bevers had scheduled a Camp Gladiator training session at the church before she was found dead, according to her Facebook page.

Although police have not disclosed how they believe Bevers was killed, the man in the footage is believed to have played a major role in her death. Surveillance cameras didn’t capture what happened but show a man dressed in police SWAT gear-including a helmet, gloves, and vest-inside the building around 3:50am, per NBC DFW. Bevers left three daughters, ages 8, 13 and 15, according to local CBS affiliate.

Smith called the murder “an unusual occurrence for our community”, at Monday’s press conference.

While some believe that Bevers may have simply walked into the church at the wrong time, former police officer Pete Schulte has a different theory. Police would not reveal how they think she died. Detectives noticed evidence of forced entry, so they wonder whether she interrupted a burglary or was targeted after posting the information about her class on social media.

Authorities are searching for a man suspected in the murder of a 45-year-old fitness instructor found inside of a Dallas, Texas area church. “They went in the building where they located her”.

The church did not have a security alarm, but cameras inside captured the grainy images of the police impersonator walking around.

Ms Bever’s husband Brandon paid tribute to her and told KDFW: “She was very passionate about transforming people’s lives, physically and mentally”. She was also dedicated to taking care of herself, her loved ones and other people.

Oak Farms Dairy, a Texas business, is offering a $10,000 reward for information “leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment” of the person responsible for Bevers’s death. Anyone with any leads is encouraged to call the Midlothian Police Department at 972-775-3333.
