Suspect in Shelby officer’s killing caught in Rhode Island apartment early Wednesday

Irving Fenner Jr, who is accused of shooting Brackeen, is still wanted.

It is believed that Fenner was then transported back to Rhode Island on September 12 and was staying at 150 Oxford St.in Providence. Their names were not immediately released, but Philbin described them as Fenner’s friends. Authorities began proceedings to extradite Fenner to North Carolina, where she’s reportedly facing a charge of accessory after the fact of first-degree murder.

Officers nearby heard the gunshots and rushed over to the scene where they found Brackeen bleeding on the ground.

Fenner was charged with attempted murder in connection with Brackeen’s shooting.

Corry Peeler, 39, Fenner’s uncle, and Corry Peeler’s girlfriend, Hope Wyman, 39, were arrested for harboring a fugitive in their apartment, State Police said. His half sister, along with a woman in NY, were both arrested and also charged with aiding Fenner.

He was hospitalized with a gunshot injury he originally sustained from the encounter with Officer Tim Brackeen over the weekend in Shelby, North Carolina.

Police in Charlotte confirmed Tuesday that two people were arrested – Casey Fenner of NY and Jolisa Peeler of Rhode Island.

North Carolina put out the warrant for her arrest, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation contacted Nassau police, which made the arrest, the source said.

A funeral has been scheduled for a North Carolina police officer who was shot and killed by a man on whom he was trying to serve a warrant.

According to court records, three days after the alleged home invasion in March, Fenner was arrested for possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed gun. “We’re optimistic we’ll have him soon”, Ledford said. He had served as a K9 officer and was married with one daughter.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Keeter Stadium, 230 E Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC 28152 with Rev. Stephen Brackeen officiating.

According to the complaint, Fenner was arrested at Glen Cove Hospital in Glen Cove about 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
