Suspect in stabbings, face-biting claimed he had ‘super powers’
He then walked a few blocks in the direction of his father’s house, before coming across John Joseph Stevens, 59, and his wife, Michelle Mishcon Stevens, 53, sitting inside of their garage at 19009 SE Kokomo Lane.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said Austin Harrouff was incoherent and making “animal-like noises” when he was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center after the Monday night attack in a quiet neighborhood north of Jupiter. No effect. Other deputies arrived and punched and kicked the suspect. “There was an enormous amount of violence inside that garage”, Snyder said.
But turther tests will look for evidence of “flakka”, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday. “I’m not going to speculate, except to say that we know in our business that people on flakka or bath salts will do this type of behavior, where they attack the victim and do the biting and actually remove pieces of flesh in the bites”.
He was about to enter his sophomore year at Florida State University, where he was studying exercise science.
Mina Harrouff called police to report her son was missing after he abruptly stormed off during dinner with family and friends at a restaurant following an argument with his father at around 8:30 p.m, authorities said. She told an officer her son had been acting strangely for about a week, said he had superpowers and that he was “here to protect people”, the report said. In a 911 call released by police Wednesday, she told a dispatcher, “it seems like he’s a little delusional” and “he says he feels immortal and like a super hero”.
Harrouff’s sister told police her brother was a “nice young man who would not hurt himself or anyone else”.
It took several officers and a police dog to get alleged killer Austin Harrouff, 19, off the body of John Stevens.
“The family would like to thank everyone for the concern shown Jeff”. Harrouff was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery on a Good Samaritan and will be formally charged later with two counts of first-degree murder. Multiple “weapons of opportunity” were used to beat, slash and attack the couple, including a switchblade the suspect was known to carry. Both were stabbed multiple times and sustained “massive trauma” to their bodies, according to authorities. “Certainly, there are mental health issues that are going to have to be investigated here”.

Sheriff Snyder said of the Martin County case: “It will be some time before we get any kind of toxicology report, but I would not be surprised, though, if we end up finding out that is the case”.
Martin County sheriff’s detectives have served a search warrant for additional testing of Harrouff’s blood, hair and DNA.
Snyder said the first deputy who arrived tried to stop Harrouff with a Taser gun, but that didn’t stop him.

“It seems like a neighborhood that was stunned, nearly into silence”, Snyder said.
