According to The Washington Post, a news agency associated with ISIS claimed Sunday that the terrorist group has claimed responsibility for a stabbing that occurred at a Minnesota mall over the weekend that left nine people wounded (the suspect was fatally shot by a police officer).

Over 1,000 additional State Police officers and National Guard officials were assigned to patrol New York’s bus and subway stations after the blasts on Saturday, Governor Cuomo said Sunday.

William Sweeney Jr., the FBI’s assistant director in NY, said there are no indications Rahami was on law enforcement’s radar at the time of the bombings.

The bomb detonated on Saturday in NY, and another device found nearby, were both shrapnel-filled pressure cookers – similar to the bombs used at the 2013 Boston marathon, reports say.

“Today’s information suggests it may be foreign-related but we’ll see where it goes”, Cuomo told another TV channel.

A suspicious devices found in a backpack has exploded in New Jersey, as the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveal they are questioning five people in connection with the NY explosion, that injured 29 people on Saturday, September 17.

Bill de Blasio, New York’s mayor, said the blast in Chelsea was an “intentional act” but he insisted that there was no credible terrorist threat to the city and there was no link with the New Jersey explosion.

Warning that Rahami could be armed, Mr de Blasio urged residents to be vigilant and report sightings to authorities.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force was called in to investigate the Chelsea blasts well as the New Jersey incident.

Authorities are still investigating whether that bombing is linked to explosive devices found nearby in Manhattan and in two sites in New Jersey.

Authorities are now searching for 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, an Afghan-born U.S. citizen.

The FBI has officially stated that the investigation into the NY bombing is a fluid and ongoing one, and that nobody has been officially charged in connection with the devastating incident.

The New York City explosion Saturday night injured 29 people.

Three violent attacks over the weekend that left nearly 40 people injured remained shrouded in questions, but together they fueled growing fears among authorities about terror assaults by small groups, lone wolves or simply deranged individuals.

At 8:45 p.m. Sunday the FBI and NYPD conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle of interest in the investigation into the bombing.
