At least 50 individuals have been killed and the dying toll might go larger.

A separate twin bombing attack at a market near a busy bus station killed at least 30 people in Madagali, a town in Adamawa State 150 kilometers (95 miles) southeast of Maiduguri, witnesses said.
In another blast, two girls blew themselves up in Buraburin neighbourhood, killing several people, according to civil servant Yunusa Abdullahi.
Monday’s blast happened in a western suburb where the army had exchanged fire on Sunday with suspected Boko Haram fighters who it said had tried to slip into Maiduguri to stage suicide bombings. Boko Haram has been terrorizing Nigeria since 2009, killing over 20,000 and spreading into Cameroon, Niger, and Chad.
“From all indications, the suspects were in Kaduna to conduct suicide bombings, kill and maim innocent citizens in the state and other surrounding areas during the festive period”, Usman said. He said some residents had found undetonated bombs.
The attack comes just days before president Muhammadu Buhari’s deadline to stamp out the group expires on Thursday.
It was learnt that the sect on Sunday, December 27, unleashed 14 female bombers on the troubled capital city, meant to carry out massive and coordinated suicide mission through Asmari, Damboa check point, Ali Dawari, Molai Kura, Baderi, Jumari villages, all at the outskirts of Maidugri.
On Monday morning, a female suicide bomber attacked a mosque as she waited to pass through security to enter the building. Further attacks rocked the city on Monday, leaving at least one person dead.
“2015 has seen Boko Haram shift back from a short-lived campaign of conventional warfare to guerilla warfare which has dominated its insurgency against the Nigerian government”, Cummings said.
“We also want to appeal to the media to stop giving oxygen to the Boko Haram insurgency; when we glamourise the attacks, we put them on stage one which gives them more life.
We have succeeded in dislodging them”, he said.

Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, the officer commanding in northeast Adamawa State, confirmed the attack but said casualties have yet to be established. The biggest problem is how do we rehabilitate and resettle the millions of Nigerians that have been displaced? The self-declared Islamic State, with whom Boko Haram is affiliated, claimed earlier this month that its West Africa division had launched more than 100 attacks over the past two months, the Site Intelligence Group, with monitors extremist websites, reported.
