Two suspects who police say violently murdered a couple in an East Nashville apartment were scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday but that court appearance has been moved.

The 20-year-old Griswold was apparently the leaseholder of the apartment.

The victims’ bodies were found early Sunday morning inside a unit at Howe Garden Apartments at 1921 Greenwood Ave.

As the search continued, police found the lifeless bodies of Claybrooks and Grubbs stuffed in a closet and covered under boxes and debris, the warrant continues. The Tennessean reports that investigators believe Griswold and Gray lived for several days with their decomposing bodies wrapped in bedspreads and shoved into a closet.

On Saturday morning, Claybrooks’ mother, who reported her son missing on Thursday afternoon, called police to report the odor of decomposition coming from the apartment.

Claybrooks’ mother went to the apartment knowing that her son had a connection there.

The murder was extremely violent, according to police.

Police said Griswold and Gray have admitted to the killings.

Investigators believe the couple was killed Monday, September 21.
