Suspension upheld for Giants’ receiver Beckham
The NFL announced Monday it would suspend Beckham for one game for his actions against the Panthers, citing “multiple violations of safety-related playing rules”.

Beckham was flagged three times for personal fouls Sunday, as he grappled with Panthers cornerbacks Josh Norman and Cortland Finnegan throughout the game.
Per NFL Network’s Rand Getlin, the star receiver’s suspension was upheld in the face of his appeal Wednesday as a result of his actions on the field during New York’s Week 15 loss to the Panthers.
Wing was within earshot of Beckham during warm-ups and said he heard Ball tell Beckham: “I’ll be the reason you don’t play today….”
I’m not sure how the league comes to those exact figures – I imagine Uncle Billy at the adding machine in It’s a Wonderful Life.
“I feel like we should have had more people on there”, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said.
“This is about my behaviour, and I am responsible for my behaviour”.
“Acts that jeopardize the safety of players or expose them to unnecessary risk can not be tolerated”, Hanks said in his letter to Beckham on Monday.
He continued, “A lot of kids look up to me as a role model”.
“It obviously would have been cool to make it, but I’m not going to cry over it”, he said. Numerous parents of those kids have asked since Sunday what they should say to their children about my conduct. There were some things on the other side, too, and I think both parties were involved. I displayed poor sportsmanship. He was wrong. There was no doubt about it. You’d like that didn’t happen.
The Giants’ biggest difference maker will not be on the field Sunday vs. the Minnesota Vikings as his suspension has been affirmed.
Norman reportedly has been fined a combined $26,044 for his confrontations with Beckham.
Beckham and Norman tangled from the beginning of the game, with plenty of pushing, shoving, swinging, wrestling, late hits and trash talking between them.
On Wednesday, Odell appealed the suspension as it is his right under the collective bargaining agreement. Norman is appealing the fines, Rapoport reported.
It’s at least the second time this season Beckham has been punished for in-game conduct.
He’s one of the greatest receivers I have ever seen and plays with passion.

Wing said that during the pregame warmups, he saw a Panthers player, who according to various reports has been identified as Panthers defensive back Marcus Ball, a practice squad player, cross the 50-yard line, baseball bat in hand, and approach Beckham, though never swinging the bat at the receiver.
