Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly made a very bold statement on the final day of SEC media days Thursday, while doing so he took a shot at his former school, Clemson.

“I’m excited to get down there to the real Death Valley and see how loud it is”, Kelly said.

Kelly repeatedly refers to LSU as the “real Death Valley”.

In just over a month a half, the 2016 college football season will thankfully get underway with some massive contests between teams that could end up playing for a national title when it’s all said and done. “I want to be remembered as the greatest quarterback that ever played”, Kelly said.

There has always been talk about whether LSU or Clemson can really stake their claim to the “Death Valley” nickname for their home stadium.

Kelly, who was kicked off the Clemson team by coach Dabo Swinney in the spring of 2014, told the media gathered that LSU – not Clemson – was the “real Death Valley”. “The real Death Valley with 100,000”.

He threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 81 yards and two touchdowns to lead Ole Miss over LSU 38-17 last season in Oxford.

Kelly was also asked if he was the best quarterback in the SEC.
