Swansea City’s Garry Monk: ‘Chelsea doctor row overshadowed our performance’
Swansea City manager Garry Monk believes his side’s performance in a 2-2 draw at Chelsea last weekend has been “overshadowed” by the furore surrounding the Premier League champions’ medical staff.

After the match, Mourinho criticised club doctor Eva Carneiro for running onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard while the Blues were down to 10 men.
“I was focused on my team, I didn’t pay attention to what was happening there and it’s not my job to give an opinion”, Monk said. The introduction of a couple of new signings added to the intrigue, and the wingers were in the thick of the action as Gabriel Obertan and Moussa Sissoko both looked lively in front of a Head Coach who likes his sides to play with flair.
Swansea are keen get Michu’s high salary off their books, and Monk has made it clear that he wasn’t interested in bringing the forward back into the first team, despite having a year left to run on his contract.
“The disappointing part of it all is that’s what the national press has decided to focus on and not the performance my players put on”.
Swansea City drew their first match of the season 2 – 2 with Chelsea last weekend.
There has been interest from clubs in his homeland, but for one reason or another a deal has failed to materialise and the striker remains in South Wales. We know what we expect and that’s all I care about. It’s been overshadowed. The focus has been on the wrong thing.

After seeing their team produce uninspiring football for much of last season, the Newcastle supporters were treated to an enthralling spectacle on Sunday as four goals were shared with Southampton. Unfortunately we went behind twice but we’ve shown we learned and ended the ones creating the danger.
