Swansea City striker Borja Baston not ready to start against Chelsea

Psyche is a fragile thing in football; all it takes is a few things to go wrong for the ship to sink completely.

Diego Costa, Hazard and Willian have all had bright starts to the season and should head Chelsea’s attack.

Borja Baston is in contention to make his Swansea City debut against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, manager Francesco Guidolin has confirmed.

The Blues (3-0-0), close to unchanged from the side that finished 10th last season aside from nabbing N’Golo Kante away from Champions Leicester City, have responded to a new voice in the dressing room and more resemble the team that won the league title in 2014-15.

The last meeting between these two at the Liberty ended with a 1-0 win for Swansea, they will hope for a similar performance but this is a different Chelsea side to that of last season. The striker scored 18 goals whilst he was on loan to Eibar last season but suffered a thigh injury soon after he signed for the Swans.

Conte was happy with his side’s ability to keep a clean sheet and maintain some defencive consistency. He’s a player who is very important for the team.

“I’m ready now to get straight back into it and get going again”. When you stay too much behind, there is the long ball and anything can happen. “Today we had the first training [this week] with all the players, because Willian arrived after training yesterday, but he had the possibility to have the same training with the assistant coach”.

“It’s not the same I know, but I’ve played the 90 minutes that I’ve needed”.

“I think we have a good team”, Guidolin said.

“I know he has been criticised in the Spanish media but, for me, Diego Costa is a very good player”, said Llorente, a World Cup victor with Spain in 2010. I want to have Diego Costa in all the games and he knows the situation.

“As a squad now we need to be ready for these next five to six games”, Wales defender Taylor told Press Association Sport.

Chelsea are 4/7 to win Saturday’s game and it is hard to see beyond a comfortable success for Antonio Conte’s side.

The italian manager said: “At this moment we must focus only on our game, we know against Swansea it will be very tough”.

There will be a lot of pressure for the Spaniard to deliver this season, with his first game expected to be in this weekend’s clash with Chelsea. Those other situations are not interesting for him, for me, for Chelsea, for the fans or for the national team.
