Swansea close to record Borja deal

‘I think he can do well in the Premier League because it’s the first time for him in this league and his motivation and enthusiasm is big’.

He realises that the Premier League is probably out of reach, but a cup isn’t, as the Swans did win the League Cup a few years ago under former manager Michael Laudrup, with Michu helping them on their way – a player that Llorente hopes to emulate at the Liberty Stadium.

He is likely to face similarly stiff competition for places at the Liberty Stadium, with Swansea set to complete a club-record £15m signing of Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston. We know winning the Premier League is a very hard competition with a lot of teams at a high level but we want to do well.

“I would like to return to play for Spain, it would be a very special thing for me”, said Llorente.

“He is a very good trainer and I am very happy to be working with him”, said Llorente, who could feature in Swansea’s final pre-season friendly against Rennes on Saturday. I want to play in the Premier League and know the Premier League.

“I want to score a lot of goals like [former Swansea striker and fellow Spaniard] Michu”.

“I would like to score a lot of goals like Michu”.

Llorente becomes Swansea’s fourth signing of the close-season after they previously made Leroy Fer’s stay at the club permanent and brought in Mike van der Hoorn and Mark Birighitti.

The striker, scorer of seven goals in his 24 worldwide appearances, said one of the factors in his moving was his admiration for Swansea’s Italian manager Francesco Guidolin.

“He is a good player, he will be important for Swansea”, added Llorente.
