Swansea win can be a fantastic start for United: Coach van Gaal
Van Gaal hopes this win will kick-start United’s season too.

Chris Smalling has told his Manchester United team-mates that Saturday’s win over Swansea must not prove to be a false dawn.
United had not won in their previous eight matches, their worst run since January 1990, prompting speculation over van Gaals future.
Anger has been the prevailing emotion of Louis van Gaal and his players during their barren six-week run with no victory.
“I shall think that now the pressure is lowering, the performance shall be better every week”.
“You have to say that of course now we are playing much more matches, but still it is an achievement”.
Something of a siege mentality developed at Old Trafford during their slump. We shall do our utmost best, fight to the end – and they have done that. “Never – and I have been in this profession for 25 years, so it’s unusual and they are angry, and want to change the situation”. It was the kind of inspirational act that has been in short supply at Old Trafford for weeks. In the second half today, we played far better, dominated more of the game and really kicked on and showed that grit and desire that we’ve got to show in games.
The hosts did not register a shot on target until the 33rd minute and only two more weak efforts followed before the break.
At the halftime whistle, United had failed to score a first-half goal again.
When asked to explain his side’s display, Van Gaal revealed that his players simply needed to take out their frustrations on the pitch, and also admitted his shock at the run of form that saw many fans call for his sacking. We always look to a gameplan that suits us more and also that the opponent doesn’t expect. “You can not imagine what goal that is”.
The game also helped ease the pressure on Rooney. Martial scores – Schweinsteiger gets the ball to Young on the right, Young crosses for Martial and he heads down into the ground and past Fabianksi. “That’s why I said after this game that he has played two fantastic games in a row”, said Van Gaal. “We need him and hopefully he will play a part to the end of the season for us”. “I am very happy for him and I hope it shall give him the boost he needs to continue”.
Martial set up Rooney’s fine victor after opening the scoring with an emphatic header, and Smalling has hailed the attacking qualities of the young France global.
Swansea could have nicked an equaliser right at the death when Fabianski came up for a corner and met Sigurdsson’s cross, but the goalkeeper headed inches wide.
Smalling hopes the duo will start scoring on a regular basis now.

“It is unbelievable”, United manager Louis van Gaal said, “and that at the age of 30”.
