Australian shepherd cross Maggie was spotted on CCTV footage breaking out of her cage at Barker’s Pet Motel and Grooming in St Albert, Canada, in the middle of the night.

Deanna Thompson, who works at the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS), the organisation that rescued the puppies, explained how the puppies are aged between nine and ten weeks old.

Staff were so moved by Maggie’s desire to comfort the two puppies that they let her sleep in the same room. “We put them together for a while and all three of them were so happy!!!” “We’ve never really seen it before, where a dog sneaks out to some puppies and is so excited to see them”.

Motel owner Sandra Aldred said she watched the whole thing play out live when she pulled up the feed while she was having dinner at home.

Aldred expects the two puppies will find homes soon, according to CBC News.

She suspects Maggie wriggled her way out of a small opening of her kennel’s door, made for holding a water dish, after she heard the pups crying. “She was nuzzling them really gently and nudging them, and then she laid down and let them cuddle with her. The puppies needed her and she needed them”.

“She paid them a lot of attention and you could see her little tail wagging”.

The Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming in St. Alberta had a touching episode they had to share. It was pretty ideal’.

Once Aldred returned to the kennel, Maggie excitedly greeted her, then brought her back to see the puppies. “It’s innate in a lot of female dogs, especially if they’ve had a litter in the past”.

When Maggie heard the puppies crying, her maternal instincts kicked in. It’s just in their nature. There are pending adoption applications for both puppies, but for the time being, the pair are in the motel, Cain said.
