Swimming – Hosszu pulls out as Adrian squeaks through
The NBC analyst criticized for calling the coach of Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszu “the guy responsible” for her turnaround says it is impossible to tell Hosszu’s story without crediting him. Sun, silver medallist in the event in London four years ago, touched the wall in one minute, 44.65 seconds to beat South Africa’s Chad Le Clos by 0.55 seconds.
MR. TRAUTWIG REGRETS: NBC gymnastics announcer Al Trautwig said Monday he regretted saying on Twitter that the adoptive parents of US gymnast Simone Biles were not her parents.
It was the fourth successive U.S. Olympic victory in the event. The couple met as students at the University of Southern California.

Hosszu and Tusup met when both were swimming at the University of Southern California, and Tusup’s intense, emotional reactions to Hosszu’s races have become an internet sensation, with NBC’s official Olympics Twitter account urging women to “find someone who loves you the way Katinka Hosszu’s husband loves her”. “Pretty sure that’s the closest I’ve come to throwing up in the middle of a race”, Ledecky said. “Coming into Rio, I wanted to take it like any other meet”.
If NBC wants to call for increased scrutiny of a potential abuser, I can get on board.
Hosszu dropped out of the 200 butterfly during the afternoon preliminaries, wanting to put her full energy into a race that encompasses all three strokes.
O’Connor, just 20 years old, was competing in her first Olympics ever. “Having three so far is really just a bonus”.

And she’s not done yet. Before leaving the poolside, she patted the Russian on the back.
