Swing state Virginia getting lots of last minute attention
After Donald Trump’s resounding win in Nevada, the candidates are already shifting their focus to 1 March or Super Tuesday – a flood of primaries squeezed into a single day.

The Massachusetts presidential primary is Tuesday- just one of several contests on a day known as “Super Tuesday”.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks to the media in the spin room after the Republican National Committee Presidential Primary Debate at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music Opera House on February 25, in Houston, Texas.
For perspective, Colorado has 78 Democratic delegates up for grabs via its caucus; fellow Super Tuesday states have 117 (Georgia), 116 (Massachusetts), and all the way to 251 (Texas). Marco Rubio of Florida; U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
Regardless of whether they’re in the Clinton or Sanders camp, Walter praised local party members for getting the word out about the caucus process, and advised them to hold onto their straw hats.
Super Tuesday, which is this week, is nowhere near as “super” as it used to be. But, the results of the New Hampshire primary election show that the Democrat Party bosses don’t really care about the will of the voters; all they care about is that an election provides the results that the Democrat Party bosses want. But none of these states is very populous.
It’s probably going to be a defining moment for both Republican and Democrat candidates with 595 delegates on the Republican side and a little more than 1,000 on the Democratic side of the ledger. To find out where you should go you are advised to call your political party or visit their website.
Democratic Party: To win the nomination, a Democratic candidate needs to have 2,383 delegates.
In short, Super Tuesday will require candidates to be appealing enough and their campaigns organized enough to compete in a number of states at once.
Walter said in past election years – such as 2012 when President Obama ran unopposed – the La Plata County Dems have had trouble filling all of their delegate seats at the state convention.
“There hasn’t been a great deal of polling in the Super Tuesday states, so we don’t have a complete picture of what might happen”.
Marshall voters of precinct 401 who would have voted at the now-collapsed Ruritan building will cast their ballots Tuesday at the Marshall IGA building at 8382 W Main Street in Marshall.
This Super Tuesday will be a huge (as Trump would say) decision for the GOP. That could be a daunting task, with most of the states voting Tuesday being not his demographic strengths. “And of course, things could change over the next week”, writes the Washington Post.
Which states seem most competitive? The delegates to be chosen will be allocated among supporters of any presidential candidate who pulls in at least 15 percent of the vote in the March 1 primary.
But say Trump gets 40-percent, while Rubio and Cruz get 20-percent each.
Farnsworth said that kind of diversity also makes a Virginia win special.
While Sanders is leading the popular vote, Clinton has an edge with her 502 delegates compared to Sanders’ 70.
Which states will be holding primaries and caucuses on Super Tuesday and how many delegates are up for grabs? He is favored to carry his home state, though he may have to share some of its 155 delegates.
It’s comforting to see the state party is still skilled in assembling a circular firing squad and able to do so early in the political season. If you’re in one of those participating states, don’t let it pass you by. California and New Jersey went way out to June 7, a whopping 13 weeks after Super Tuesday.
