Switzerland Salez attack: Armed man injures people on train

According to early reports, a man boarded the train, started a fire and then began stabbing passengers.

A man armed with a knife has attacked passengers on a train in Switzerland injuring at least seven.

A 27-year-old Swiss man attacked several passengers on a train in canton St. Gallen on Saturday, the Swiss News Agency has reported.

He had ignited a flammable liquid before attacking people with a knife.

A six-year-old child is among those who were hurt as the train travelled between Buchs and Sennwald at 2.20pm local time (1.20pm United Kingdom time).

The carriage was reportedly left covered in blood following the attack, as the badly injured were treated at the scene.

Swiss police have confirmed the train has been sealed off an it is understood the county’s interior minister is holding an emergency meeting over the incident.
