The bloodiest day for civilians was Sunday, when a barrel bomb attack killed 10 in a southern rebel-held town and one woman died in the first raids on Aleppo since the truce started.

Part of the US-Russian agreement is that non-jihadist rebel groups in Syria must stop co-operating with and separate themselves from Jabhat Fateh or face untold consequences.

Iran, another close ally of Syria’s government, also condemned the US raid, saying it violated Syria’s sovereignty and “showed that terrorist groups enjoy USA support in Syria”.

The State Department later said that it was ready to work with Russian Federation to strengthen the terms of the agreement and expand deliveries of humanitarian aid.

At the same time the Russian Defense Ministry said there was increasing shelling by rebels of government-held parts of Aleppo.

A significant reduction of violence for one week, accompanied by the delivery of aid, was to clear the way for the US and Russian militaries coordinating separate airstrikes against the jihadist Nusra front, as well as the so-called Islamic State group.

He added that both Russian and USA officials are negotiating in Geneva to bring additional aid to civilians in Syria, including for the besieged areas in Aleppo.

The Syrian military has declared a U.S. -Russia brokered ceasefire over just a week after it began.

President Barack Obama has made clear the US will use military force only against IS and other extremist organizations, and not against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government. It said the airstrikes were “on goal and planned in advance”, and killed dozens of Syrian soldiers.

Assad made his comments Monday during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Ministry official Hossein Jaberi Ansari.

And there has been no sign of compromise on the issue at the heart of the war: the future of Assad, who enjoys firm Iranian and Russian military backing that is buttressing his strongest military position in years.

Senior government adviser Buthaina Shaaban told AFP Sunday that Damascus believed the raid, which killed at least 62 Syrian soldiers, had been “intentional”.

Syrian or Russian aircraft struck an aid convoy near Aleppo on Monday, a war monitor reported, as the Syrian military declared a one-week truce over.

In a written statement later Monday, the State Department said it has seen the Syrian military’s comment and that it expects Russian Federation to ensure Assad’s compliance with the ceasefire deal.

But from the start, the truce has been beset by difficulties and mutual accusations of violations.

The Syrian government forces have in fact also repeatedly been accused of violating the truce.

Its future will be at the top of the agenda of a meeting Tuesday morning of about 20 countries supporting opposing sides in the Syria conflict, including the USA and Russian Federation, that belong to the International Syria Support Group.

He didn’t explain whether this means Moscow is opting out of the cease-fire and giving the Syrian government the free hand to freely use force again.

Syria called Saturday’s US -led strikes on the outskirts of the eastern city of Deir el-Zour a “dangerous and blatant aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic and its army”.

Ayrault, who has criticized Washington for not releasing the cease-fire agreement, said the U.S.

Thomas says the US military is appointing a general officer to investigate the strikes on the Deir el-Zour site, which lasted nearly an hour.

Tens of thousands of people live in government-held neighborhoods of Deir el-Zour under an IS siege.

Supplements were delivered to the besieged town of Talbiseh in Homs province on Monday, the Red Cross said. Gone were the loftier ambitions of creating a new, U.S.

A United States airstrike on Syrian forces on Saturday also caused trouble.

The US-led raid on Saturday evening hit a Syrian army post near the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, where government forces have been fighting off IS jihadists since previous year. The Observatory gave a different death toll, saying 90 troops were killed in the strikes.

A member of the Syrian Civil Defense – a group of volunteer first responders also known as the White Helmets – has criticized the United Nations humanitarian aid agency for suspending all convoys in Syria.

The Observatory said aid trucks making a routine delivery organised by an worldwide organisation to an area west of Aleppo city were hit near the town of Urm al-Kubra.
