Syria rebels accept ceasefire, with reservations
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed the establishment of ceasefire in Syria and easier access to the humanitarian aids for the whole people of the country (Syria)”, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Sunday. They will announce. they are opposed to the U.S.

Earlier, a leader from the powerful Ahrar Al Sham militia announced that the rebels would observe the ceasefire, but would not fully split with Jabhat Al Sham. “Russian agreement, but they will halt their operations on the ground because of the losses they sustained in the battles for Aleppo”, he said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
It also said excluding Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, a former al Qaeda affiliate, but not foreign militias backed by Iran, was a double standard and would make the deal less likely to succeed, warning that Russian Federation and the government would use it as a pretext to attack other rebel groups.
“The Islamist factions and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham will abide by the cease-fire without publicly declaring it”, said the official.
The Iranian spokesman, however, underlined that the ceasefire does not apply to the terrorist groups, including Daesh (ISIL), al-Nusra Front or other newly-born offshoots, calling on the global community to keep battling against the Takfiri extremists seriously, without any consideration and incessantly.
“The free Syrian factions under the Euphrates Shield banner will announce their commitment to the agreement, of course”, he said.
Rebels have been fighting side-by-side with the al-Qaida-linked Jaysh Fatah al-Sham around the northern city of Aleppo as they try to break a government siege on the city’s opposition-held quarters.
Idlib is mostly controlled by rebels including the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, a former al-Qaeda affiliate previously known as al- Nusra Front.
The ceasefire agreement, if honoured, will open corridors for the United Nations to reach Syrians in Aleppo with badly needed relief.
Over 2,000 people have been killed in fighting over the past 40 days in Aleppo, including 700 civilians and 160 children, according to a Syrian human rights group.
Forty days of fighting in Aleppo has killed almost 700 civilians, including 160 children, according to a Syrian human rights group.
In the aftermath on Sunday, rebels and opposition activists were asking whether the government’s side could be trusted.
Several previous negotiated ceasefires have all eventually collapsed.
