Syrian boy’s wounded brother dies after air strike in Aleppo

Al Jazeera says the UN’s special envoy to Syria “has called for a truce again around the city of Aleppo as activists report more deaths in fighting around the country”.

3 days after the picture of 5-year-old Omran Daqneesh shocked the world, the father of the young boy spoke for the first time and described how his family was buried under the rubble when Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s army bombed Aleppo.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, more than 300 civilians have been killed in Aleppo since July 31 when a coalition of rebel groups broke a government siege of districts under its control.

The Halab Today opposition TV station posted a photo of 10-year-old Ali Daqneesh saying he died from his wounds.

A doctor who identified him in the photos said Omran was brought to the hospital with head wounds, but didn’t suffer any brain injuries, and was later discharged.

Omran, five, was filmed caked in dust and blood after his home was hit.

His story capture the world’s attention after a photograph of him sitting in the back of an ambulance appeared.

The two boys were taken together with their parents and three siblings to an underground hospital.

The family was rescued after an hour of people digging through the rubble of what was once their home.

On Sunday, Raslan said Ali was wounded by a collapsing wall. The Aleppo Media Centre confirmed Ali’s death in a video yesterday.

“Ali’s heart stopped and we tried to rescue him”.

Russian Federation has denied responsibility for Wednesday’s airstrikes in the Qaterji district, which killed at least eight people, including five children.

The intensified fighting in and around the city have killed 448 civilians so far this month, the Observatory told Reuters.
