“In my capacity as governor, I will continue to do everything that I can to ensure that refugees from Syria who could pose a danger to the people of the State of Texas will not be allowed to relocate into the State of Texas”, Abbott said.
Almost 30 states have vowed to block Syrian refugees following the Paris attacks, but Texas is the only one that has sued the USA government in trying to make good on those pledges.
Ted Cruz, R-Texas, left, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, right, speak about the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the US, during their joint news conference on Capitol Hill in W… He added “due to safety and privacy concerns our organization can’t disclose resettlement details of Syrians or any refugees that have arrived in Houston”.

“In these cases they’re absolutely in violation of Flores because there must be an individualized determination that is supported with some basis for keeping a child in a prison for this long”, Ryan said.
But this week, another Syrian family was able to resettle in IN, according to a statement posted online Tuesday by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
Archbishop Joseph Tobin said he had met with Pence and explained to him the plight of the family and the role of the archdiocese’s Refugee and Immigrant Services program.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump proposed that all Muslims should be banned from entering the U.S.
The Obama administration says refugee vetting is rigorous and can take up to two years.
After the November 13 attacks in Paris for which the group Islamic State claimed responsibility, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, was one of the first governors to seek to block on security grounds the resettlement of Syrians in their states.
The International Rescue Committee settled a family of six in Dallas.
In Dallas, volunteers who regularly work with refugees say they’ve actually seen an uptick in donations and offers to help in the wake of more attention being paid to Syrian refugees. She described the family as relieved and eager to start a new life in the United States.

A federal judge on Tuesday set a January court date for an initial hearing on the lawsuit, and attorneys for the state must respond in writing to the ACLU legal filing later this month. The state has since withdrawn its request for an immediate ban on Syrian arrivals.
