Syrian regime forces retaliate after airstrikes
Turkey is concerned about the potential for a fresh wave of Syrian migrants arriving at its border as a result of Russian air strikes in Syria, the foreign ministry said on Friday.

The group said there was also “heavy use of surface-to-surface shelling by the regime in the province”. Instead, they said it is “evolving”.
Other activists wondered where the Americans were.
The Russians “know their targets, and they have a sophisticated capacity to understand the battlefield situation”, said Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., who serves on the House Intelligence Committee and was careful not to confirm a classified program. The militant Islamic State (IS) group subsequently declared a caliphate – a state ruled by strict Islamic law – and began claiming territory in mid-2014. It said troops also seized the nearby Um Hartein village. The USA and Russian Federation are trying to hash out flight procedures to ensure that there are no collisions or other incidents as both countries conduct bombing operations in Syria.
It said militants then continued their advance toward nearby villages, killing and wounding rebels and seizing “qualitative weapons and ammunition” from them along the way. “We now have everything in place to make the Response Force stronger, faster and more capable”, Stoltenberg said.
After a night of fierce clashes, ISIS militants had driven out rebels from the localities of Tall Qrah, Tall Soussin, Kafar Qares and the military base of Madrasat al-Mushat by 5:00 am (0200 GMT), he said.
“This will have consequences for Russian Federation itself which is rightly fearful of attacks…”
The war in Syria grew more complex as French warplanes hit ISIS targets in Raqqa and the terror group killed an Iranian commander outside Aleppo.
The Iranian state news outlet Press TV, citing a statement by the Revolutionary Guards, reported that the general had been killed by ISIS fighters but did not say how he died. Neither report provided further details. Syrian troops launched an offensive last week in an attempt to break the siege. The base is located around 10 miles (16 kilometers) northeast of Aleppo city.
Hamedani is one of the most senior Guard commanders to be killed in Syria. Iran is majority Shiite.
In January, Brig Gen Mohammad Ali Allahdadi was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Syria that also killed six Lebanese Hezbollah fighters.
France, according to its president Francois Hollande, will allow, under certain conditions, joint actions with Russian Federation in attacking ISIS, while German chancellor Angela Merkel stressed that Russian Federation should play an important role in the resolution of the Syrian crisis; moreover, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may be allowed to be party to the process.

Sen. John McCain, a frequent critic of Obama’s Syria policy, said Friday that continuing to insist that rebels fight only against the Islamic State is a “fundamental flaw” of the revised US approach. The USA has had success working, for example, with Syrian Kurds and Sunni Arab rebel groups in northern Syria.
