Syrian warplanes hit IS positions in the east
The incident has threatened an already fragile USA and Russian-brokered cease-fire that has largely held in the five-year-old Syria war despite dozens of alleged violations on both sides.

At least 18 trucks delivering aid to Syrians for the first time since the start of a week-old cease-fire were hit by an airstrike on Monday, according to USA and humanitarian officials, as the regime declared the truce effort over. The US and Russian Federation have said if it holds for seven days, it should be followed by the establishment of a centre for both countries to coordinate the identification of targets against ISIL and other hardcore fighters.
Earlier Saturday, Syria and Russian Federation had accused the USA -led coalition of striking a Syrian army base and blamed the raid for an Islamic State advance in the area. It is also possible that the Russians will exploit this in an adverse way through downsizing the USA military presence in the Syrian airspace.
“It would be good if they didn’t talk first to the press but if they talked to the people who are actually negotiating this”, he said.
Syrian state TV reported Sunday that dozens of residents had left rebel-held areas in Aleppo and were taken to shelters in the government-controlled part of the city.
“This step (cease-fire) was to constitute a real chance to stop the bloodshed”.
Earlier, Secretary of State John Kerry expressed hope that the cease-fire could still hold even after the Syrian military’s announcement and took aim at Russian Federation for not doing enough to pressure Assad’s government to comply.
The International Committee of the Red Cross says it has delivered humanitarian aid to the besieged town of Talbiseh in Syria’s central Homs province.
The strikes late on Monday came just hours after the Syrian military declared the week-long U.S.
He said humanitarian assistance should reach eight locations on Monday, a key part of the ceasefire negotiated between him and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov more than a week ago.
Russian Federation said the United States was being obstructive and deceptive regarding the airstrike by coalition warplanes on the Syrian military position.
United Nations humanitarian chief Stephen O’Brien said initial reports indicate that many were killed or seriously injured in the convoy attack, including Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the Syrian conflict now in its sixth year, said the pilot of the MiG Syrian warplane was killed. The figure does not include dozens of Syrian soldiers and Islamic State militants killed in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour, the Observatory said Monday.
Russia’s claims of rebel violations come amid fallout from a botched US-led operation in eastern Syria at the weekend that killed almost 100 Syrian soldiers.
Earlier this month, Syrian government forces and their allies recaptured areas they had lost south of the city and reimposed a siege on opposition-held eastern neighborhoods. “While we have seen comments attributed to the Syrian military, our arrangement is with Russian Federation, which is responsible for the Syrian regime’s compliance, so we expect Russian Federation to clarify their position”.
“We can confirm that the United Kingdom participated in the coalition air strike south of Deir el-Zour on Saturday, and we are fully co-operating with the coalition investigation”, the MoD spokesman said.
Speaking at a forum in the Institute for Iran-Eurasia Studies (IRAS) in Tehran on Sunday evening, Dzhagaryan expressed deep sorrow over the bombing of the Syrian Army’s positions in Deir ez-Zor over the weekend, which led to the deaths of at least 90 Syrian troops.
The United States expressed its “regret” over the incident, which Russian Federation said killed scores of Syrian troops.

The UN has said it has not received necessary permissions and safety guarantees from the Syrian government for it to proceed with the deliveries to Aleppo and other hard to reach areas.
