Last week, Honduran authorities intercepted six Syrian nationals traveling on doctored Greek passports, including five who had been trying to reach the United States.
According to the Minister of Security, Gustavo Mata, the woman will now be “processed for the crime of use of a false document”.
The authorities said the woman had flown to Costa Rica from Peru.
Costa Rica is investigating whether or not the woman has any link with the case in Honduras, where two days ago five Syrian men were arrested in the Tegucigalpa airport carrying stolen Greek passports.
Celso Gamboa, deputy prosecutor, they are seeking a translator to question here. The source also said there was no evidence to suggest the men were militants.
They were stopped in Honduras because their passports lacked a required yellow fever vaccination certificate, Cerpas said, although Honduran officials say they spotted that the documents were irregular.
A second US government official said it appeared the five traveled to Honduras because they believed border controls would be lax there.
The other four men gave their names as Majd Ghanout Kousa, Fady Freej Shehada, Mazen Mikhail and William Ghanem.
“They entered at a blind spot”, he said. All five have now sought refugee status in Honduras. “At this point we can’t rule that out”, he told the NY Times. “We already have confirmation that they had fake passports [before arriving Honduras] that were stolen in Greece”, Baca said. Honduran authorities have not turned up any criminal history for the Syrians.
Thousands of people have been fleeing from Syria since the civil war broke out there in 2011.

“The three detainees were traveling illegally and were sent to the national migration institute offices”, he said.
