Taco Bell starting delivery service | WTNH Connecticut News

Yum Brands [fortune-stock symbol=”YUM”], the parent company of Taco Bell, have always been thinking about extending a delivery service to the brand. In May, McDonald’s began testing a delivery service to selected areas in New York City.

“We’ve been talking about delivery for a while, because it’s the No. 1 most requested thing” by customers, said Lieberman, who added that Taco Bell would promote its delivery test on Periscope, Snapchat and Twitter in the coming days.

What do fast food chains like Taco Bell need to do to make sure their delivery is smooth?

The fast-food chain is teaming up with a two-year-old startup called DoorDash to deliver Taco Bell chalupas, burritos, nachos-and even taco salads, if that’s what you’re into.

Delivery will be initially available in more than 90 cities and more than 200 restaurants around Los Angeles, Orange County, Calif., San Francisco and Dallas, according to US Today. Taco Bell has performed well in most of the suburban markets. It appeals to a group of people who are used to ordering through a number of delivery services, such as GrubHub, because it is convenient. However, to date, its primary partnerships have been with restaurants, the company said. In Mission Viejo, for example, dashers can fetch a Double Double from In-N-Out Burger or a latte from Starbucks, according to their website.

“Taco Bell is a natural complement to our technology and vision”, said Prahar Shah, head of business development at DoorDash.

“Today’s announcement shows our continued momentum in building top tier partnerships, expanding nationally, and providing the very best local delivery options to our customers”, said CEO Tony Xu.

Paired with our Netflix habit and this new delivery feature, it looks like we’re never going to leave the couch again.
