Heavy rain and gales brought on by Storm Frank are battering the United Kingdom bringing fears of fresh flooding and further misery.

In York, police condemned thieves who looted homes submerged in dirty water.
At the scene yesterday, Conservative Selby and Ansty MP Nigel Adams said he had been on the bridge with Communities Secretary Greg Clark just hours before it collapsed.
According to the Tadcaster town council website, the current structure was built around 1700.

The storm is expected to cause major disruptions in Cumbria and southern and central Scotland, the Press Association reported, quoting Floods Minister Rory Stewart who warned there could be a “very bad situation” for residents already hit by floods.
In many areas the ground is still saturated from previous downpours and river levels remain at record highs.
Elland Bridge in West Yorkshire has been closed after the carriageway crumbled and collapsed after the floods.
The army were drafted in to help EA staff fix York’s Foss barrier.
There are now four severe flood warnings, 46 flood warnings and 81 flood alerts in place across England and Wales.
