Tag Heuer teases its Intel-powered Android Wear smartwatch launching 11/9

The company’s tweet includes a picture of the watch, supposedly called Connect, though most of the watch is covered by shadows. We can also barely make out a sleek black band for the wrist.

The Android and Tag Heuer Twitter accounts are tweeting up a storm about the upcoming Tag Heuer Android Wear watch. It doesn’t reveal too much, as only about 1/3 of the watch is visible, but the solid build quality and attention to detail can be appreciated in all of its elements, including the metallic button, the numerals on the bezel and even the name TAG Heuer Connected can be seen engraved there, too. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. This might seem like a slightly shocking price for a smartwatch, but if we take in consideration that Tag Heuer is after all one of the best Swiss premium watchmaking companies, the price is in fact reasonable for those who can afford it. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough. The watch is reportedly based on the popular Tag Carrera and will cost around $1,800, according to a interview with Tag CEOJean-Claude Biver on CNBC last month.

The Apple Watch starts at $349 (£299, AU$499) and goes all the way up to $17,000 (£13,500, AU$24,000).

There’s no word yet on specs, though reports have speculated the Connect watch will feature Intel’s “Quark” SoC, a battery life up to 40 hours on a single charge, and maybe even a new Marshmallow-powered version of Android Wear.

Mentions of TAG Heuer’s entry into the Android Wear market have been tossed around for a really long time now, but – as we learned just a couple of weeks ago – the device’s launch is finally right around the corner. None of this has been confirmed, though.
