The defence lawyer took exception to Headley’s dig.
Meanwhile, Abu Jundal’s lawyer had demanded to make Shaziya Khan and Tahvoor Rana co-accuse in this case, during last round of hearing. Nevertheless, using the National government, Headley had joined into a plea deal on both events and got down having a light sentence. “This problem was broke by me by joining the allow and going to Pakistan”, Headley informed unique judge G A Sanap, who’s reading the 26/11 horror scenario against Jundal in a sessions judge below.
He admitted that the Directorate of Enforcement Agency had funded his Pakistan visit between 1992 and 1998.
Follow up questions about other targets of the LeT in India found no answers. He didn’t need me to carry on utilizing his office.
Earlier, he claimed that his associate Tahawwur Rana was opposed to his (Headley’s) links with the LeT.
“Rana was aware of my association with the LeT and I informed him about the training imparted to me by LeT operatives. I disclosed that I had been spying for LeT. It was four to five weeks prior to the 26/11 assaults”.
Headley also disclosed that Rana had disapproved of his association with LeT, and added that Rana was not in “constant touch” with any LeT operatives. “This was in July 2008”, he said. Headley’s cross-examination will continue on Thursday.
Asked about the whereabouts of his first wife Shazia and whether she was in the US or Pakistan, Headley said: “I can’t disclose her location as there are safety and security issues”.
Shazia is Headley’s third wife. Queried if he and Shazia were still married, Headley replied in the affirmative.
He also accepted that he was arrested twice in the U.S. for drug smuggling and visited Pakistan thereafter. The court has asked for more citations of law before it decides if Jundal’s lawyer can question Headley about his wife and how she reacted to finding out he was involved with the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and Mumbai Crime Branch chief Atul Kulkarni were also present.
She had never visited India and he had told her about his association with the LeT.
