Tahoe snow to white out Christmas
It’s not going to be a White Christmas in New York City this year, but it will be in Arizona.

If Frank Loesser were writing his classic Christmas tune today instead of in 1944, he might have called it “Baby, It’s (Not So) Cold Outside”, given the record warm temperatures. The west coast will be dealing with spotty rain and snow showers, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
Snow won’t slow down Santa and his sleigh on Christmas Eve, but it might make for some hard road conditions for holiday travelers over the weekend. The typical Christmas Day in our area is cloudy with frosty mornings and lows around 30 degrees.
In all, more than 60 of the 236 weather observation sites in the mainland United States will be within 3 degrees of their record highs on Christmas Eve, according to The Weather Channel.
The temperature is expected to reach 68 degrees.
The mercury hit 64 degrees at 12:01 a.m., topping the all-time December 24 high temperature of 63 degrees set in 1996, according to AccuWeather.
“It doesn’t look likely that we will have a white Christmas because we have a pattern of mild weather here through Christmas”, said meteorologist Dan Thompson with the National Weather Service in White Lake Township. The typical low for this time of year is 25.
Temperatures will get very cold, with morning readings mainly in the single digits above and below zero early Christmas Day. The rain doesn’t stop there…Saturday we’ll have a few showers and a high of 71. A strong surface low will move in out of Texas setting the stage for strong and severe storms.
CHRISTMAS DAY FRIDAY: Cloudy skies return for Christmas day, with rain expected to become more widespread throughout the day. We’ll see less than the past two days, but still wet nonetheless.
Dense fog advisory for some areas until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Scattered storms can be expected periodically on Friday, but we’re looking at just an isolated shower/storm this weekend.
