Markel Brown, who the Nets dropped the first week of July, has finally found an National Basketball Association home, if only a temporary one.

Brown handled a consistent workload during his two seasons with the Nets, mostly serving as an off-the-bench presence. He had career averages of 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 38.2 percent overall and 29.7 from deep.

Brown is 6-foot-3 and plays both backcourt positions, primarily shooting guard.

There are rumors that Brown’s versatility and defensive frontcourt skills will help the Cavaliers further improve their game by teaming him up with key players like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. This has left only one position to be filled as the team now, has 12 entirely guaranteed contracts and are expected to resign free agent J.R. Smith.

When the Cavs get these, it’s going to be a big night in Cleveland. As of now, he could become the backup point guard after Mo Williams has not informed the Cavs whether or not he’ll return for this season.

With Brown’s signing, only two players from the Nets 2015-16 roster remain unsigned: Thomas Robinson and Henry Sims.
