It’s no secret that many actors tend to seriously commit to their roles when working with director Martin Scorsese.

According to Collider, the 63-year-old actor said that he lost 20 pounds for “Silence”, an upcoming historical drama by Martin Scorsese.
And now we’ve received our second taste from the long-gestating film with our first look at Liam Neeson via Variety’s report from the Los Cabos worldwide Film Festival, where Neeson discussed the production and Scorsese’s intense directing style.
“[Scorsese] gives 200%. All he requires is that you give 100%”.
“He’s intimidating. He requires absolute silence on the set – if he hears one tiy sound, it shatters it for him”.
While information and images from the movie – based on Shusaku Endo’s 1966 novel and based in 17th century Japan – have been scarce thus far, two photos from the forthcoming flick have now been revealed.
They seek out Neeson’s character, a priest who is believed to have lost his faith.

When it comes to why Liam chose to take on the role, he mentioned his Catholic upbringing and that he was intrigued by the film’s central question of “Is there a God?” Jay Cocks, who last worked with Scorsese on Gangs of NY all the way back in 2002, wrote the screenplay for the film. After all, Paramount aren’t planning to the release the film until late 2016.
