Talgo completes third Delhi-Mumbai trial

On its return journey, the train will start on August 3 from Mumbai at 3 PM and will reach New Delhi the next day at 5 PM with the speed of 130 kmph.

The third trial will be on August 9 and the fourth and final on August 14.

Remember the news of high speed Talgo train coming to India, which was supposed to cover the Mumbai-Delhi stretch in 12 hours? It is easily the fastest train on the Indian tracks, after it completed the Mathura-Palwal stretch at 180 kmph.

These trial between Mumbai and Delhi will continue over the next 15 days to test the tracks for cruising speeds of 130 to 150 km/h.

Today is the Final trial of Talgo bullet train: It’s a huge achievement by the Indian Railways because of the three-day ultimate trial run for high-speed Talgo trains of between Delhi and Mumbai route will start from Monday. “We expect that it is likely to take 11 hours 30 minutes at 150 kmph to reach Mumbai”, railway official Hemant Kumar told news agency PTI. According to a series of tweets put out by the Railway Ministry, the train’s trial run has otherwise been a success.

The second trial run was directed on the Palwal-to-Mathura area of the North-Central Railway. “After trial if we decide to go for it then we have to find ways and means as to how to go about it”, he said. The Rajdhani Express has an average running speed of almost 91 kilometre per hour. At present, superfast trains such as Rajdhani Express take around 16 hours to traverse the route. The nine-mentor Talgo train comprises of two Executive Class autos, four Chair Cars, a cafeteria, a forced auto and the last part mentor for staff and hardware.

Hauled by a 4,500 HP diesel engine, Talgo coaches are lightweight and designed in a way that they can run on curves without decelerating.
